following your instructions i found this in the blacklist, but raw1394
seems comented:

#blacklist dv1394
#blacklist raw1394
#blacklist video1394

blacklist firewire-ohci
blacklist firewire-sbp2

I don't have the camera right now to check the dmesg output, i'll check
it during the week probably on a fresh install of jaunty final.
