I've attached a casper log. I forgot to capture the output of dmesg, but I did run dmesg and visually inspected it. It seemed to report corruption in an ext3 filesystem. This could have been my /boot partition, but I think it unlikely. Again I did encrypt the entire root partition as an option of the alternate install of Ubuntu 8.04.
