** Description changed: Binary package hint: compiz after upgrading to jaunty RC1 from intrepid, Desktop effects sometimes crash when clicking on picture links in firefox. When trying to reenable them through the appearance settings, they don't get reenabled, even though the appearance applet seems to think so. At lest the radio button stays next to "normal" after I am asked if I want to keep the settings (and I click on keep settings). If I try to start compiz manually at this point, I get the following output: - :~$ compiz - Checking for Xgl: not present. - xset q doesn't reveal the location of the log file. Using fallback /var/log/Xorg.0.log - Detected PCI ID for VGA: - Checking for texture_from_pixmap: present. - Checking for non power of two support: present. - Checking for Composite extension: present. - Checking screen 1Comparing resolution (3840x1200) to maximum 3D texture size (4096): Passed. - Checking for Software Rasterizer: Not present. - Checking for nVidia: present. - Checking for FBConfig: present. - running under gnome seesion, checking for gnomecompat - Checking for Xgl: not present. - GConf backend: There is an unsupported value at path /apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/texture_filter. I have desktop effects again if I log out and back in. It seems to work fine until I start using firefox.
