Hi, guys. My system is slows down in graphic mode too.
I have ATI Radeon HD3600 video card, but can't work comfortable with graphic desktop like it was in Ubuntu 8.10 The workaround, that I found was "changing Setting -> System -> Preferences -> Visual Effects to 'None'", like it was mentioned by "blablaa" above.
