This is a known thing that is quite frequently talked about at the Compiz forums. It is nearly impossible to make a solution for this until X.org implements input redirection, and that is moving at a glacial rate. Looking at http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showpost.php?p=43093&postcount=2 and http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=2822&highlight=window+previews+minimized+windows might shed some light as to why. Oh, and Vista's way of handling this is to take a picture when a window is minimized. You can test this by playing a video or some other changing application and minimizing it in vista, then looking at the window preview.
