I compiled myself kernel2 2.6.17-13 (ubuntu-patched) and 2.6.19.1 and they both have the same problem:
I receive an error message in /var/log/kern.log acpi_cpufreq: Unknown symbol cpu_online_map I cannot use any cpu frequency scaling feature. I tride the p4-clockmod, smp, but nothing worked. The generic kernel works ok, but i still haven't find what is the distictive difference that makes it work. > cat /proc/cpunfo processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 11 model name : Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile CPU 1200MHz stepping : 1 cpu MHz : 800.000 cache size : 512 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 2 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr sse up bogomips : 1596.44 -- [regression-edgy] speedstep-centrino module fails to load https://launchpad.net/bugs/66812 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
