Public bug reported:

Initial conf:
 Kubuntu 9.04 beta AMD64

To reproduce:
 1) Boot LiveCD.
 2) Try to setup PPTP VPN.

Result:
Years passed since I filed bug that PPTP can't be used in easy manner. Problem
appears to be still here in Kubuntu.
In System Settings -> Network Settings -> Network Management -> VPN tab I can
see VPNC and OpenVPN. But there is no PPTP vpn, once again! What the ... ?!

Impact:
Some ISPs are using PPTP VPNs to authenticate *internet* access rather than
intranet. This means that users of such ISPs will be unable to use internet and
they will be unable to install needed packages due to lack of internet as well
and in usual case networking setup will require skilled Linux-guru technician
to succeed.

For example, in Russia, one of major ISPs, Beeline which does provides
GPRS access, Wi-Fi access, Ethernet access and so on to *millions* of
customers *REQUIRES* customers to use PPTP or L2TP VPN for Ethernet and
Wi-Fi connectivity. Inability to use PPTP means that you will not have
internet access, only LAN access possible (internet connection is being
tunneled across lan by using PPTP or L2TP VPN, lan is actually has grown
into a huge MAN aka Metropolitain Area Network).

Windows does provides easy PPTP VPN setup, just as easy as usual dialup
connection setup. Kubuntu loses here and haves no chances for these
millions of customers as long as there is no decent PPTP VPN support
which is easy to set up without taking some advanced and overcomplicated
actions.

P.S. It is really annoying and frustrating that I have to deal with
*same* problem for *several* *years* :E. I'm really tired of helping to
users to gain network connectivity with Kubuntu. Why can't you just
relax Linux guys and girls lives by providing a proper PPTP support?
(Which you have to TEST before claiming it's here). Even small linux-
based SOHO routers, these small boxes with very limited Linux version
are able to use PPTP and L2TP these days and there is easy setup via web
face! Can you imagine this? It is a real *shame* that fully-blown
desktop OS does not provides such requested and obvious feature in easy
way. Will this happen ever so I can rest in peace? Or I'm damned to help
Kubuntu users to set-up this crappy PPTP VPN by using hard and non-
obvious methods instead?
