Sorry, image posted by mistake (wanted to leave a jpeg). I am using Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit, and had the same issue (as the image describes). But the problem (at least partially) seems solved by Caramdir solution. Just had to restart to make it work. Thanks! The only thing is an old issue of not properly displaying the application snapshot in the application switcher when they are minimized. Now only the icons appear in the list (see new attachment).
