I have found a program whon can correct this issue i think here http://developer.berlios.de/projects/fsfn/ and used here http://www.geh- hirn.de/ffsony.php but we need a more experienced user to read the code to see what it does. You can also try the next ubuntu release to see if it's still an issue.
