Hi all, After a little poking, I realized that my LCD TV has several display modes (4:3, 16:9 ...) and that there is one that is exactly the size that Xorg choses. So now I can see X with the right dimensions (using the "subtitles" display mode). Still, Xorg doesn't obey to the directives mentioned (not Intrepid or jaunty).
