Emad, First off, thanks for the report.
nm-applet is a gnome specific front-end for NetworkManager, a project initiated by RedHat a while back. Check out this link for detailed info and flow-charts on NM operation: http://www.arachnoid.com/linux/NetworkManager/. Information from the link that explains the behavior you reported: *snip* ..." It is important to understand that, as normally configured and at the time of writing, NM is user-centric, not system-centric (this issue will probably be addressed in a future version), consequently it isn't appropriate for systems with multiple simultaneous GUI logons. When a particular user logs on, the NM control applet 'nm-applet' takes charge and chooses an appropriate network strategy. This means your system may need to fall back to a more conventional network configuration between logons or while in a runlevel that doesn't support GUI logons."... *snip* I hope this answers your questions for the time being. Because the reported behavior is intended behavior, I am marking this report 'Incomplete,' meaning it will expire in 60 days unless you provide additional information about why this report should be kept open. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- Ubuntu 8.10: Login in using user1, then login using user2, log out user1... = You can't change network settings. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313775 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
