Public bug reported: I just burned the Jaunty latest beta and booted on a stock Dell Dimension 4550 with 1024x768 flat screen which is currently running 8.04 very sucecssfully. The burn was done with Brasero, using the ubuntu-9.04-beta-desktop-i386.iso and verified OK. I did a cold boot from the CD, and it brought up the option-selection menus. I picked "Run from CD without making changes" and the Ubuntu logo and progress bar came up. The progress bar cycled back and forth while it read the CD, then changed to a real progress bar from white to red while it loaded fully. The screen went black, then blank, then blanked again (like an X probe), and then the arrow appeared in the center and stayed there. The CapsLock and ScrollLock lights came on blinking and stayed that way. X never came up [any further], and the CD kept rotating but obviously not reading anything, and the system hung.
