mikedev: Could you please be more specific with respect to the "latest updates" installed - in particular, was it updates only on a default installation, or did you activate any additional repositories? Which repositories have you activated?
I have the very same netbook (still running Easy Peasy successfully on it) but booting it from a fully updated USB stick does result in exactly the same non-working scenario as I have originally reported.
