Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu Jaunty on two netbooks Samsung NC10. On both, systems sounds
(like startup sounds, or pidgin sounds) make very annoying "cracks" while
playing sounds, or even sometimes instead of playing sounds.
This occurs with both speakers and headphones, and even when none of sounds
levels (master, PCM, etc..) is at 100%
