Actually, I noticed something else about mine.  It starts off, but turns on
if I hit the function key.  At that point wifi radio is off, but the light
is on.  Then whenever I hit the function key it flashes off for a moment and
turns back on.  This same flashing behavior occurs when changing my MAC
address through ifconfig.
