This was my first bug report, so I don't know how long to wait for any kind of reply, or even if one would be forthcoming. So, after 3 days of nothing, I just decided to remove the offending kernel from my install. Since I wasn't using it, it doesn't seem to have any adverse effect on my system. I still don't know why I got the error, but now, just like everyone else, I don't care.
