Some further information.  dmesg shows the following in the boot
sequence.  Note the gap between [   13.906835] and [  102.238342].  A
prior boot showed the loading of my camera (USB video / USB audio)
device as the last event prior to the pause, so I disconnected the
camera and rebooted.  No change other than it is now the generic mouse
at 13.906835 rather than the camera as the last event prior to the
pause.

Note:  The same system was running Intrepid without this issue prior to
clean reformatting of the EXT3 partition and installing Jaunty.  No
other changes have been made to the hardware configuration.
