Jan Claeys, maybe you are wrong with my patch or maybe I am wrong from my point of view :). Let me explain : If you do not have to choose an application at all, you solve the problem with registrations of applications. There's already one place where one registers its application : the desktop environment. It seems enough to me, and it also seems the good place for doing this. Firefox should just shut up and use those preferences.
