Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz
Version: 8.10 When I first installed ubuntu, I could not proceed past the login screen. After searching online, I found a fix for this that involved deleting compiz and compiz core. I had to hit ctr alt F1 on the login screen, login to command mode, then delete the files. When I restarted the computer, I had no other problems. I later found out that my graphics card is blacklisted, and can't run the visual effects. I have also seen a number of people on the ubuntu form with the same issue. It would be nice if ubuntu would start up with the 3D graphics turned off for people with blacklisted cards. That would avoid this problem completely.
