Hardy is supposed to get "Long Term Support", so if there is a fix in Intrepid, please back-port it. It does not seem reasonable to just not support SATA out of the box.
Note: Intrepid is unsuitable for many people because of several major regressions (session mgmt, bluetooth,...). Therefore keeping Hardy useful on current hardware seems essential. P.S.
