Hi all, I'm experimenting similar troubles with Ubuntu 8.10 server, 64 bit edition - Kernel 2.6.27-11-server 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 12)
It randomly crashes the entire kernel, with no message in any log, so hardware reset is needed. On the system console appears flashing and coloured characters but this doesn't help me smiling.
