OK, after playing around a bit more, I've realized the problem is not with the trash. I've updated the description and summary.
To reproduce the bug, Install Gnome-Do Set theme to "Docky" Make sure auto-hide on the Gnome-Do dock is off Try dragging any file or folder from anywhere in Nautilus into the bottom region of the screen (about a quarter of the way up from the bottom of the screen) I can't move anything into that area, which is why I couldn't put things into the trash. Dragging doesn't work onto the desktop or into any other folder, as long as it's within that region of the screen. I suppose this is a big with gnome-do rather than nautilus, and the package hint should be changed to reflect that. ** Summary changed: - Can't drag files to trash + Can't drag files to bottom quarter of the screen with Gnome-Do on ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nautilus - Using Jaunty Beta, nothing happens when dragging a file to the trash can - on the desktop. The icon remains on the desktop or in the nautilus - window where it started, and nothing goes into the trash. + Using Jaunty Beta, while Gnome-Do is in "Docky" theme with auto-hide + off: - Any other method of deletion still seems to work, including hitting the - delete key, using "Move to Trash" on the right-click menu, and dragging - to the trash can on the panel. + Nothing happens when dragging a file to the bottom corner of the + desktop.
