Public bug reported: Jaunty i386 - up-to-date as of Sat. 4th April. Dell Inspiron 1525 with an Intel GM965 chipset with an X1300 graphics card. The 'low' %CPU 7 to a 'high' %CPU 13, is with Desktop effects enabled (just the default ones) and with the Desktop effects turned off, Xorg gives a 'low' of %CPU 2 and a 'high' of %CPU 6 .
I'm sure that with desktop effects turned off Xorg's CPU usage should really be near zero. ni...@nigel:~$ ubuntu-bug -p xorg Usage: /usr/bin/ubuntu-bug <pid>|<packagename>|<program path>|<.crash file> ni...@nigel:~$ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.4~5ubuntu18 Candidate: 1:7.4~5ubuntu18 Version table: *** 1:7.4~5ubuntu18 0 500 http://il.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ni...@nigel:~$ ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- High CPU usage with Desktop effects enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
