I can confirm this bug on a intel 945GM. Problem is that EXA is unusable slow (tested with KDE4 desktop effects, "anholt" openarena demo), while UXA is fast but breaks suspend/resume. So there should be either a fix for EXA (making it faster) or a fix for UXA (fixing at least suspend/resume). This is bug is definitely a show stopper on my hardware (and on other intel hw too, i think). Let me know if there is need for additional tests or debug output so i can help you out on this.
