Thanks for the link to the guide. I've followed it as best I can - but
if there is anything more specific you want me to try, please just say.

*Behaviour*

Ubuntu is commanded to go into Suspend Mode.
It does so successfully, the monitor switching off, hard drive stops, fans stop.
Pressing the keyboard does not resume the computer.

On pressing the power button one of three things occur:
* The computer reboots - resume fails.
* The computer asks me to login, thereafter, resuming normally
* The computer resumes normally without asking me to login

*Reproducible*
Usually, the computer completely reboots after a suspend (i.e., resume fails) -
perhaps 4 times out of 5. It makes no difference how long I wait before
attempting to resume after a suspend, any of the three behaviours above might
occur.

*Did it work before*
Under Ubuntu 8.10, suspend/resume worked perfectly - each time I resumed I was
asked to enter my password. After reading the forums, I should add that under
8.10 I used the binary Radeon drivers for the Radeon 850XT video card. Under
9.04, I use the open source versions.

Another difference is that under 8.10, on resume I always had to restart
the window decorator using "gtk-window-decorator --replace &". Under
9.04, if the computer does resume correctly, everything works just fine.

*Caps Lock*
No flashing

*Things Tried*
If I log out of Xorg and run suspend from the console (/etc/acpi/sleep.sh)
everything works correctly on resume (and I don't have to renenter my password)

If I run the suspend test (either from Xorg or the console) the computer
never auto resumes - I always have to press the power button. Under
Xorg, sooner or later, the computer just restarts. Under console, it
resumes normally after I press the power button.
