Attached is a tar archive with relevant logs and configuration files, generated after the error messages while booting with the PPA radeonhd. If just the xorg.0.log is more convenient for future comments/attachments, let me know.
Minor differences from original bug, the "(EE) RADEONHD(0): D2CRTCDisable: Failed to Unsync CRTC 2" line disappeared, and ubuntu did not prompt to post an xserver bug here like it did before (after starting X in safe graphics mode).
