Public bug reported: I installed Ubuntu 6.10 and my sound card (Creative Labs SB Audigy LS) was working fine. I installed kubuntu-desktop and koffice metapackages yesterday. Logging in this morning my sound was working fine. I logged out of gnome, logged into KDE to use the KDE printer configuration tool. When I logged out, I noticed there was no "drum beat" sound on the GDM login screen. There is now no sound in Gnome or KDE. Applications run as if sound is being made, but nothing. There is still no sound after rebooting. I tried running:
sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils reset and sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils reset but still no sound. The output of lspci | grep audio is: 00:0c.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy LS I ran alsmixer and sound is not muted. I started the PC up with a Knoppix disk and confirmed that sound works in Knoppix. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- no sound after Kubuntu/Ubuntu switching https://launchpad.net/bugs/77988 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
