One thing I noticed is that after changing kwin style to plastique from oxygen. The display corruptions stopped appearing except for dragon player full screen progress/scroll bar though lasting only for a moment. Thee is a bug with kde https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=187356 for this.
