all of these have the same information; furthermore I can confirm that this happened to me also when installing Edgy (with the regular ubuntu installer) I don't think you'll find anything in the logfiles, since when this happens, the ubuntu install must be terminated, and reboot into Windows to run chkdisk + clean shutdown.
