I don't know how to update this bug, however....it's still with us!!! I have Kubuntu 8.10, fresh installed, updated, kde 4.1....and it happende exactly the same thing, after some popups about the accessibility keys, my keyboard stopped to work.
I solved going into Control panel > Accessibility and by setting back all the default options. Then, before save, in the tab "Activating Gestures" tou have to unckeck the option "Use gestures to activate the sticky keys". I think this is really a bad bug: - normal users don't know what it happened, and I hope for them they have another operative system on the machine. - imagine this in an enterprise....with people who have to work...total panic - I have asked for this on two forums (one is ubuntuforums) and nobody helped me. Luckily i googled and searched this "old" bug.... In conclusion, three days without my operative system, luckily I have windows ready. Fix it! ** Description changed: Binary package hint: kde When some AccessX key combos are triggered, like pressing SHIFT 5 times or more, kde shows a pop-up window asking for a decision. The message is targeted to users with acessibility problems and has the option to disable the trigger, enale the AccessX, etc. But after disable the AccessX shortcuts, keyboard just stop working on KDE session. It works on KDM and console. If I remove the .kde folder (a quite drastic measure, I know) the keyboard works again. If I disable the triggers into KControl, (Regional & Accessibility -> Activating Gestures -> unckeck the option "Use gestures to activate the sticky keys and low keys" ), everything works fine and no problem with keyboard. The problem has been verified in two different machines. I'm using Kubuntu 7.04 , KDE 3.5.6 and kernel 2.6.20-15-generic Thanks in advance, Jeandreh. + + EDIT: This bug is on Kubuntu Intrepid 8.10 too, and users have their + systems unusable without any apparent reason, just saying "NO" to the + popups about accessibility.
