Thank you for your reply. My bad on this one. This bug report ( infinite loop ) should close. I screwed up and tried an upgrade on a 2GB hard drive.
Between bouncing off a full drive and getting hot, the system reacted in this manner. Moral of the story: don't network upgrade Kubuntu on a 2GB drive. Drives are cheap.
