Please enable the language you want to have available as system locale by editing /etc/locale.gen (remove the # mark infront of the lines of your choice, in your case that most propably would be the it_IT.UTF-8 line) and running locale-gen. You won't be able to use other languages in most other applications neither if you don't enable them system-wide.
