i wasn't aware that this chip was associated with this bug.

can you post your "dmesg" output, or just the bit which may or may not say that 
you have an invalid mac address.
please also post "ifconfig" output, so we can see what your MAC address(es) are 
right now.

also try the forcedeth module in my ppa, link above. it's very crude,
but should work if you are getting an invalid mac being recreated each
time.
