Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati
I Downloaded the Mythbuntu Jaunty daily build live CD from 3-20-2009. I'm using a 780G HD3200 IGP with D-Sub and HDMI outputs. My "monitor" is a Vizio TV with D-Sub and HDMI inputs. The radeon driver on the live CD is unable to set a resolution my TV can support unless both the D-Sub and HDMI connections are in use. With only the D-Sub cable: My TV shows a "Unsupported Resolution" message. With only the HDMI cable: My TV shows a blue screen. With both cables connected: Resolution gets set to 640x480. I can use my TV remote to switch between RGB and Digital Video inputs. Both are displaying the same 640x480 screen. I can use Applications>Settings>Display to select 1360x768 and the TV's RGB mode displays a very nice quality picture. The HDMI input does not support 1360x768 and shows a blue screen. I think the default resolution should be 1360x768 when only using the D-sub. When only using the HDMI I think it should default to 640x480 or 1920x540 interlaced. (Does radeon support 1920x540 interlaced?) On the other hand, this new radeon driver IS pretty nice. This is the first time I've ever seen tear free video with this 780G. Fglrx under Hardy tears constantly.
