yleetiny, thank you *very* much for your work on this bug! I've reviewed the package you prepared, and converted this into a patch against the hal package which is now published in the bzr branch linked from the top of this report. I'm waiting for Martin Pitt (hal guru) to review this before we move forward with it for jaunty, but I do think there's no need now for resurrecting the acpi-support script - we should be able to satisfactorily address this in hal.
The version committed to the bzr branch expects smartdimmer built from the nvclock package, which handles the brightness values differently than the smartdimmer currently in Ubuntu. I'm hoping we can get that smartdimmer packaged in for jaunty still, since that will let us also address backlight handling for GeForce8/9 chips. ** Changed in: gnome-power Status: New => Invalid -- sony brighness on a geforce series older than 8 (nvclock works fine) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277589 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
