Another thing I've noticed: this auto-launching update manager doesn't even achive its stated purpose of having people install updates: Just yesterday, I booted a drive I hadn't booted in 5 weeks.... and update-manager, of course, auto-launched.... The only problem: it didn't update the PACKAGE CACHE first... so it was showing... 5-WEEK OLD updates! That strikes me as rather stupid. I had to manually hit "Check", and only then did it show recent updates.
