I can also confirm this on 8.10. For me the symptoms are a little different. I have my screensaver set to lock my gnome session when engaged. I have seen twice now where I have returned to my computer in the morning, the screensaver is still running just fine, but when I enter my password to sign back in, the screen briefly flashes and then my X session is killed and I'm brought back to the gdm sign in to start a new session. Very irritating to lose my session every couple of days.
