Thanks for this workaround. The repeating key problem is driving me
crazy!

Can you tell me one thing? I am a Linux newbie. I'm running Mint 6.0,
which is based on Ubuntu 8.10. I see that i can edit the file
/etc/rc.local with gedit, but I am afraid of screwing up my system if I
don't do it exactly right. Can you tell me exactly where in rc.local to
put the line:

kbdrate -r 25 -d 500

?

does it go at the end, or before  the "exit 0" or where? You said that
you just added the line to the file, but that is too vague for me to be
able to implement your workaround.
