Same here Richard. I also did gksudo nvidia-xconfig to check if the driver was actually installed, Nvidia was clearly listed under 'System Device', and though i am glad that nothing actually 'crashed'--isn't everything supposed to go blank when a system crashes? I think i can live with these pseudo crashes.
