Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz
The system crashes without apparent reason when synaptic or update manager is called from the gnome-panel for the first time, after inserting the super user password when compiz is the window manager. CRTL+ALT+BACKSPACE is useless. Changing tty as well. The only way out is a hard reboot. This cannot be replicated when metacity is the window manager.
