Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

I've got a faulty USB controller that was designed as USB 2, but works
only in USB 1 mode. Linux doesn't recognize this when I attach an USB 2
device and fills dmesg with error messages instead of removing and maybe
blacklisting module ehci_hcd. In attachment, you can see when I manually
removed ehci_hcd and my flash drive that caused so much error messages
started to work...

System: up-to-date Jaunty, this problem affects earlier versions as
well.

** Affects: hal (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
