Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve Ubuntu.
This bug was marked as a duplicate of bug #256238, but it is not. The version of the libpam-smbpass package that you list as installed does not require GLIBC_2.8 symbols. You appear to have a locally corrupted or overwritten version of /lib/security/pam_smbpass.so. You can verify this by installing the debsums package and running: debsums -s libpam-smbpass If this reports a problem, you can restore the package to its pristine state by running: sudo apt-get install --reinstall libpam-smbpass If the debsums command does not report any errors, then there is something else wrong with your installation and we'll need to investigate further. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Steve Langasek (vorlon) Status: New => Invalid -- version `GLIBC_2.8' not found (required by /lib/security/pam_smbpass.so) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312437 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
