These are other issues I forgot to mention that might be related. When I check /proc/cpuinfo it reports the CPU as being single core, even though it is actually dual core. Also when shutting down or rebooting, it crashes on a blank screen after the progress bar is finished. This results in failure to shut down or reboot.
