This site has a workaround to get the modem to return the expected
response.

He claims that by telneting into the modem and changing the
/etc/udhcpd.conf file the resolv.conf entries will be built correctly.

There are a couple claims on the site that I haven't been able to verify yet. 
1. The issue goes away if you disable IPV6 on your linux box.
2. The issue is resolved in the QW05.5 firmware.
