** Description changed: hi, i've got this problem using Ubuntu 8.10 and the alpha 4 release of 9.04. the machine is an acer travelmate 243LC. it happens sometimes when i try to shutdown the system or to logout from a session. (50% of times using 8.10 - 40% of times using Jaunty) the screen becomes empty and off, but the system keeps going on, and then the only thing i can do is to cut the power. i don't know which informations about my system could help you in this case, so i wait for a request. thanks. ------------- update : i've added also xubuntu 8.10 in this machine. using it the shutdown is always succesful + + ------------ + + update 2 : no, not always succesful with xubuntu 8.10 too. :-(
