Thanks Andreas, that worked for me, I now have Xv acceleration, and I can even get reasonable desktop effects (KDE) using XRender (but not OpenGL).
It even has mitigated KDE bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119281 (sluggishness in KMail composer, which seems to be graphics driver related). So thanks for all the work on this, it looks good from here.
