Thank you for taking the time to report this problem and help to improve Ubuntu.
Can you please confirm that you in fact have the xserver-xorg-input- synaptics package installed on your system? There was a bug in earlier jaunty alphas where the -synaptics driver was inadvertently omitted from the default install, fixed around the time your bug was reported. The lshal and Xorg.0.log you've attached suggest this is the problem you're having, since hal clearly knows the device but the Xorg log shows no attempt to load the driver. (The regression-potential tag, btw, refers to regressions in development releases that have not yet reached a released version of Ubuntu.) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High Status: New => Incomplete -- [regression] SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/328772 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
