Thanks for your bug. You can double click on a song to switch. I agree
than the play,pause way to function might be confusing but switching
song would not be better. You could be browsing your library, rating
songs, looking for properties and wanting to pause the currently playing
song and then start it again. The current way allow to do that, you use
the play,pause button to act on what is playing and you double click to
switch to an another song. I'm marking the bug as rejected, if you
really want to argue about it please open a bug upstream which is the
right place to discuss how the software behave, we fix bugs for the
distribution but will not change the behaviour from upstream for it
