I seem to have the same problem with my Samsung P560 laptop. When I press Fn-up or Fn-down there is an indication that the brightness-level is changed, but it doesn't. When I try to use the hal-system-lcd-get-brightness script I get: 10: hal-functions : not found
I used to change the brightness level via a self written script by writing to the file /proc/acpi/video/NVID/LCD/brightness, but this file vanished a while ago, together with the NVID directory. It was just gone, from one day to the next :( I think that this bug probably has something to do with the missing brightness file (at least in my case) ** Attachment added: "lspci" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23490210/lspci -- Backlight brightness does not change on Gateway P-6317 laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/295311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
