On Intrepid, this bug occurs after a dist-upgrade. There is even a popup (slide out, rather) in firefox which informs the user that the browser has been upgraded. However, this popup happens *after* the first time I (manually) restarted firefox - so its not much use. Ideally, this pop up should occur on all instances of firefox currently running, maybe with a different color (warning pink, perhaps) - so that users can differentiate it from ad-block or save-password popups.
